This study aims to reconstruct the semantic evolution of the pair of terms noos-noein and their main derivatives from the original values up to the platonic ones, using all sources, even literary type. The multidisciplinary research, involving the history of philosophy, classical philology and sciences of mind, is also directed to the identification of the historical causes of this development, as well as the cognitive mechanisms from time to time in place. The result is, as F. Fronterotta writes in the presentation of the volume, «a very detailed examination in every respect that will undoubtedly, from now on, be an essential point of reference on this issue».
