Resumen

Este estudio repasa la evolución semántica del par noos-noein y de sus principales derivados, desde sus valores originarios hasta los platónicos, utilizando las fuentes filosóficas y literarias. La investigación, que abarca la historia de la filosofía, la filología clásica y las ciencias de la mente, tiene también como objetivo la identificación de las causas históricas de tal desarrollo, así como de los mecanismos cognitivos que intervienen. El resultado es, como escribe F. Fronterotta en la presentación del volumen «un examen detalladísimo en todos los aspectos que de ahora en adelante constituirá sin ninguna duda un punto de referencia imprescindible sobre la cuestión».
