- Summary
-
Pursuing its project of an annotated translation of the Pindar Scholia, the ISTA team offers, in this second volume, an extended commentary to the scholia to the Second Olympic. It follows the text established by A.B. Drachmann, while allowing itself to introduce a few corrections, and takes guidance from the work of scholars of Pindar and the Scholia, with a view to account for the scholiasts’ sensitivity to the polysemic character of Pindar’s poetry, their desire to adopt multiple approaches through various critical methods, and their careful record of the different interpretations proposed on the text.

The continuation of this translation with commentary is intended for scholars and specialists of ancient Greek as well as historians, literary scholars, and linguists; it is of potential interest to many readers, both for the realia referred to and the technicalities of the commentary and the many-sided modes of reformulation.
