This volume brings together the texts of ten papers delivered in Montpellier between 2021 and 2023 as part of the Ipse Dixit research seminar, devoted to the historiography of the sciences of the ancient Mediterranean. Each of these contributions, in the fields of History, Archaeology, Egyptology or Numismatics, addresses an issue and its conceptualisation by scholars over a long period of time, reflecting on the construction of a concept or a discipline by the historiography of the last century, or more specifically, by analysing the contribution of a major scholar active between the mid-19th century and the mid-20th century.
