Archives of the Social Imaginary
This series, created in 2015 as part of the ANR UTOPIES19 project (ANR_2011_BSH3_010_02), aims to publish the work of researchers who contribute to renewing our understanding of the 19th century, in particular our understanding of all that relates to projects - sometimes barely tested, sometimes more successful - to overhaul post-revolutionary society: overhaul of economic relations, overhaul of social relations, overhaul of religion and its role in secularised societies. In this perspective, the "Archives of the Social Imagination" series is interested in all the readings that enrich our understanding of the major currents of social and political thought of the period, particularly in the links they weave with the new ways of categorising the social that we owe to the nascent social sciences, but also to certain life sciences, to literature in the throes of upheaval, and to journalism that became both an observer and a critic of society. The socialisms of the period are a privileged but not exclusive terrain for understanding these complex meshes as they were thought out and defined through them, but they are not the only objects of interest in the series: conservatisms and liberalisms, when they take such paths and when read by researchers today from these knots, shed just as much light on the social imaginary of the 19th century. The series primarily welcomes interdisciplinary work.
